I-NERGY Contributions to AI-on-Demand Platform
The European AI-on-demand (AIoD) platform is a one-stop-shop for Artificial intelligence (AI) knowledge, technology, tools, services and experts. I-NERGY aims to reinforce the AIoD platform by delivering innovative AI assets for the energy sector. In a nutshell the I-NERGY initiative aims to bring AI advancements within current energy industry practices by developing a coordinated set of modular and highly reusable AI services.
AI is transforming every aspect of life, including the energy sector which offers a wealth of data for the training of the AI models, such as data coming from smart grid sensors, building sensors, digital twins and monitoring systems. I-NERGY is making substantial contributions to the AI-on-demand (AIoD) platform in terms of assets and future interoperability of AI-based energy services.
As depicted in the figure, many use cases identified within the I-NERGY are producing assets for the AI-on-demand (AIoD) platform. These use cases can be categorized into three different categories: Data analysis and Forecasting, Optimization, and Distribution Network.
I-NERGY aims to inspire and support European SMEs and startups to develop and deploy state-of-the-art AI technologies for the energy sector in order to address the real needs of the industry users. To this end, I-NERGY distributes a sum of 2 million euros to SMEs, start-ups, and infrastructure providers working in the energy domain through 2 Open Calls. The 1st Open Call funded 10 projects for a maximum of 50,000 euros each for 6 months. The 2nd Open Call that is currently running up until 12 December 2022, will fund 15 projects for 9 months for a maximum sum of 100,000 euros. You can find more information about the calls here.
